Convert FBX to glTF in Your Browser
FBX comes from Maya, 3ds Max, Mixamo, Unity and Unreal, while the web, three.js, Babylon.js and AR viewers want glTF. This page reads the FBX with three.js, keeps the meshes, materials, embedded textures, skeletons and animation clips, scales centimetres to metres, and writes a single .glb by default, or an embedded .gltf, or a .gltf with its .bin and textures in a ZIP.
How to use it
- 1
Add your FBX
Drop a binary or ASCII .fbx (version 7.x) on the box. Add texture images at the same time if they are not embedded.
- 2
Check the scale
FBX is usually in centimetres; the default turns it into metres for glTF. Check the size readout and change it if the model is too big or small.
- 3
Preview animations
Play each clip in the preview to check it before converting.
- 4
Download
Pick .glb (one file), an embedded .gltf, or .gltf + .bin + textures as a ZIP.
What to know before you convert
- Meshes, materials, embedded textures, skeletons, skin weights, morph targets and animation clips are kept. Rig constraints, IK, NURBS and patch surfaces, and deformers other than skin and blend shapes are not carried over.
- Materials are converted to glTF PBR materials, so shading can differ from Maya or 3ds Max. Special shaders are not converted.
- Textures that are not embedded must be added with the FBX; otherwise those materials have no texture.
- FBX versions older than 7.0 (2011) cannot be read. Re-export from your 3D program or a free converter first. Files up to 100 MB are accepted.
- Cameras and lights are written as glTF cameras and punctual lights, which some viewers ignore.
