Convert 3MF to OBJ

3MF is the project format of Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer and Cura. To render a print, edit it in Blender or use it in a tool that does not read 3MF, you need OBJ. This converter reads every object on the plates, keeps them as separate objects where they sit, and writes an OBJ with an MTL file that gives each filament colour its own material. The file is read in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Add your .3mf

Drop a 3MF model or a Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer or OrcaSlicer project.

  2. 2

    Check the preview

Each object is shown in its filament colour. Modifier, negative and support-blocker parts are left out because they are not printed.

  3. 3

    Set the axis and scale

3MF is in millimetres and Z-up. The default turns it Y-up for Blender and keeps the millimetre numbers; pick metres for real size in Blender.

  4. 4

    Download

Get a ZIP with the OBJ and the MTL colours, or the OBJ alone.

What to know before you convert

  • Print settings (layer height, infill, supports, speeds) are not part of OBJ and are dropped.
  • Painted colours (multi-material painting) are not kept: each object gets its filament slot colour, and a note says so.
  • Modifier, negative and support-blocker parts are left out, and the number is shown.
  • Objects from all plates go into one OBJ, each at its place in the project. No normals are written; Blender computes them on import.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drop the .3mf on the box above, keep "ZIP: OBJ + MTL" and click Download. Unzip it and import the OBJ; the MTL gives each object its colour.
Each object keeps the colour of its filament slot (or the colour stored in the 3MF), as an OBJ material. Colours painted onto parts of a surface are not kept.
3MF measures in millimetres and Blender reads OBJ numbers as metres, so a 50 mm part shows as 50 m. Pick "Millimetres to metres" before downloading for real size in Blender.
No. OBJ only holds the shape and colours. Keep the 3MF for printing and use the OBJ for rendering or editing.
No. The page reads the file and converts it inside your browser with the open-source three.js library. Nothing is sent to our servers, there is no account, and no credits are used. Closing the tab discards everything.
