Convert FBX to GLB, Animations Included

GLB is the single-file version of glTF, the format that web viewers, three.js, Babylon.js, AR apps and model-viewer expect. This page turns an FBX into a GLB on your own device, keeps the rig and its animation clips, and packs the textures into the same file.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Add the .fbx

Drop it onto the box or click to choose it. Add separate texture images at the same time if the FBX does not embed them.

  2. 2

    Check scale and clips

The converter reads the unit stored in the FBX and suggests the matching scale, so a centimetre model comes out the right size in metres.

  3. 3

    Keep or drop animations

Animation clips found in the file are listed. Untick them for a smaller, static GLB.

  4. 4

    Download the GLB

One .glb file with meshes, materials, textures, bones and clips. Open it in any glTF viewer or engine.

What to know before you convert

  • FBX 7.0 (2011) and newer, binary or ASCII, is supported. Older FBX 6 files need to be re-saved in a 3D app first.
  • Materials are converted to standard glTF PBR materials. Complex shader networks, layered materials and procedural textures are approximated or dropped.
  • Lights and cameras are removed. NURBS surfaces and curves are not converted.
  • External textures are only packed if you add the image files together with the FBX. Missing ones are listed after loading.
  • The GLB is not compressed with Draco or meshopt, so large scans can produce large files.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Skinned meshes, their bones and every animation clip stored in the FBX are written into the GLB, and the checkbox lets you leave them out. Morph targets (blend shapes) are kept as well.
Most FBX files from Maya, 3ds Max and Mixamo are in centimetres, while glTF is defined in metres. A converter that copies the numbers makes a 180 cm character 180 metres tall. This page reads the FBX unit and scales to metres by default, and you can change it.
Yes. Embedded FBX textures are packed automatically. If the FBX refers to outside image files, add them together with the FBX and they are packed too. Anything that cannot be found is listed so you can add it.
Yes. A Mixamo FBX with skin and one or more clips converts to a GLB that plays in three.js, Babylon.js and model-viewer. Clips downloaded "without skin" contain only bones and therefore show no mesh.
They hold the same data. glTF is a JSON file with separate .bin and image files; GLB packs everything into one binary file, which is easier to upload and share. Use our glTF to GLB packer if you already have a .gltf folder.
No. The page reads the file and converts it inside your browser with the open-source three.js library. Nothing is sent to our servers, there is no account, and no credits are used. Closing the tab discards everything.
