OBJ Texture Generator

Upload an OBJ model, describe the texture, and AI paints it into your own UV layout. Download the texture as a PNG for your OBJ, or a textured GLB.

How an OBJ keeps its texture

  • An OBJ stores the mesh and its UV map. Its colours live in separate image files, listed in a .mtl file.
  • The studio keeps your UV map by default ("Keep my UVs"), so the painted PNG lines up with your OBJ in Blender, Maya or any engine.
  • If the OBJ has no UVs, or its UVs overlap, the studio can make new UVs. Then download the GLB, which carries the new UVs with the texture.
  • Need an OBJ back from the GLB? The GLB to OBJ converter does that.

How to texture a OBJ file with AI

  1. 1

    Upload your OBJ

Drop the .obj file (up to 60 MB). Your own UV map is kept by default.

  2. 2

    Describe the look

Write what the surface should be, or pick a style like Realistic or Stylized game.

  3. 3

    Paint with AI

Auto paints 4, 6 or 8 views. Brush one part to repaint only that part.

  4. 4

    Fix and finish

Heal seams, paint by hand and make normal, roughness, metal and AO maps for free.

  5. 5

    Download

Save the texture PNG to use with your OBJ, or a textured GLB with its maps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. "Keep my UVs" is the default, so the AI paints into your layout and the PNG fits your OBJ. If the UVs overlap, mirrored parts share paint; choose "Make new UVs" to give every part its own space.
No. Upload the .obj on its own. The studio paints a new texture, so the old material images are not needed.
The studio downloads a textured GLB or the texture PNG. With your own UVs kept, the PNG works with your original OBJ. To turn the GLB into an OBJ, use the GLB to OBJ converter.
No. The shape, polygon count and size stay exactly the same. The AI only paints the texture on the surface.
Each AI view costs 2 credits, and an Auto texture paints 4 views for 8 credits (6 or 8 views for hidden areas cost 12 or 16). New accounts get free credits to start. The Heal and Paint brushes and the PBR maps are free.
