Convert GLB to PNG (Textures Kept)
Need a picture of a 3D model for a product page, a README, an asset store or a chat? Open the GLB, turn it to the angle you want and save a PNG with a transparent background, or a JPG. The image is drawn in your browser with the textures and materials from the file, framed to fit the model, at the size you choose.
How to use it
- 1
Add your GLB
Drop a .glb on the box or click to choose it. A .gltf works too: add it with its .bin and texture files, or as one ZIP.
- 2
Set the view
Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, or use the front, side and top buttons. The image uses the angle you see.
- 3
Pick size and background
Choose 512 to 2048 px (square, landscape or portrait), PNG or JPG, and a transparent, white, black or custom background.
- 4
Download
Save one image of this view, or a ZIP with four standard views: iso, front, side and top.
How to make a GLB thumbnail
A thumbnail should show the whole model, from an angle that says what it is, on a background that fits where it will be shown. Open the GLB above and start from the default three-quarter view (Reset view), which shows the front, one side and the top at once. That is the usual angle for product shots and asset store tiles.
Pick 512 x 512 or 1024 x 1024 for a square tile. The camera is pulled back just far enough to fit every corner of the model with a small margin, so the thumbnail is never cropped. The grid in the preview is left out of the image.
For a catalogue or a model library, use "Download 4 views" to get iso, front, side and top in one ZIP, all at the same size and background, so every model in the set is shot the same way.
Transparent PNG of a 3D model
Keep the format on PNG and the background on Transparent. Every pixel that is not the model is saved fully see-through (alpha 0), so the picture sits cleanly on any page colour, slide or design. JPG cannot store transparency; there the background is white, or the colour you pick.
Need a solid backdrop for a marketplace that rejects transparent images? Pick white, black or any colour under Background.
Textures and materials are kept
GLB is glTF in one file: meshes, PBR materials and the texture images packed together. This tool loads the file with the three.js glTF loader and draws it with those materials: base colour textures, normal maps, metal and roughness, emissive parts and vertex colours. It is not flattened to a grey mesh. Soft studio lighting with reflections is added so metal parts do not render black.
Draco and meshopt compressed GLBs open too. If a .gltf points to texture files you did not add, the page tells you which ones are missing.
A quick alternative to rendering in Blender
Blender gives full control (lights, camera lens, Cycles renders, turntables), but for a plain picture of a model it means importing the glTF, placing a camera, setting the film to transparent and rendering. Here it is drop, turn, download, in a few seconds and without installing anything.
Use Blender when you need a styled scene, shadows on a floor or an animation. Use this page when you need a clean, consistent image of the model as it is.
What to know before you render
- The image is a real-time (WebGL) render, the same quality as the 3D preview: soft studio light, no cast shadows or ray tracing.
- Animated GLBs are drawn in their rest pose. Morph targets and skinned characters are shown as they load.
- JPG has no transparency; a transparent background is saved as white in a JPG.
- Images up to 2048 x 2048 px. Very large models depend on your device and graphics memory.
