Hitem3D Alternative: Make a 3D Model, Then Paint It With AI

Hitem3D is an AI image to 3D generator made by Math Magic, launched in July 2025 and now sold as Hi3D (hitem3d.ai opens the Hi3D site). You upload a photo, a sketch or several views of an object, or start from a text prompt, and get a textured 3D model to export as STL, OBJ, 3MF, GLB or USDZ or send straight to a 3D printing slicer. It has a free plan with 100 credits and paid Pro, Max and Ultra credit plans. The3DAI covers the same first step with Image to 3D and Text to 3D, and adds an AI 3D Texturing Studio that repaints any model you upload, one part at a time if you like.

When to pick Hitem3D

  • You are making something to 3D print: it splits models into parts with connectors, prepares multi-colour prints and sends files to your slicer.
  • You have photos of a figurine, character or product and want a detailed mesh from one image or several views.
  • You need STL or 3MF files, a print-and-deliver service, or an API for volume.

When to pick The3DAI

  • You already have a model and want AI to paint it: upload GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL or PLY and describe the look.
  • You want to repaint one part (a face, a logo, a jacket) with a brush instead of generating a new model.
  • You want image to 3D, text to 3D and AI texturing in one account.
  • You want a low monthly start: $4.99 for 100 credits, or a one-time pack.

How to texture a 3D model with AI on The3DAI

  1. 1

    Upload your model

Drop a GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL or PLY file, or pick a sample. Keep your own UV map, or let the studio make new UVs.

  2. 2

    Describe the texture

Write what the surface should look like, or pick a style or a prompt idea.

  3. 3

    Paint with AI

Auto paints 4, 6 or 8 views. Turn the model to paint any spot again, or brush one part and repaint only that.

  4. 4

    Fix and finish

Heal seams and paint by hand for free, then make normal, roughness, metal and AO maps in your browser.

  5. 5

    Download

Get a textured GLB with its maps, or the texture PNGs to use in Blender, Unity, Unreal or Godot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hitem3D is an AI tool that turns images into 3D models. Math Magic launched it in July 2025, and it is now sold as Hi3D. You upload one or more images (or start from a text prompt) and it makes a textured model you can export as STL, OBJ, 3MF, GLB or USDZ, with extra tools for 3D printing such as model splitting and multi-colour prints.
Yes. hitem3d.ai now opens the Hi3D website, and the product's Product Hunt listing moves from "Hitem3D 2.0" (February 2026) to "Hi3D 2.1" (May 2026). The3DAI is a different company and is not affiliated with either name.
It has a free plan: 100 credits for life, up to 10 assets and one task at a time (as of October 2026). Models made on the free plan are public under a CC BY 4.0 licence and need attribution; paid plans allow private and commercial use. The3DAI gives new accounts 60 free credits.
Its paid plans are Pro (1,000 credits a month), Max (2,400) and Ultra (8,000), billed monthly or yearly; credits refresh every 30 days and do not roll over, and failed generations are refunded (as of October 2026). The dollar prices were not shown in the public page we checked, so see the Hi3D pricing page for current numbers. On The3DAI plans start at $4.99 a month for 100 credits.
It depends on the job. For 3D printing workflows (splitting, multi-colour prints, slicer hand-off), Hitem3D is built for that. If you want to make a model from an image or text and then paint it with AI, The3DAI has Image to 3D, Text to 3D and an AI 3D Texturing Studio that textures any GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL or PLY you upload and repaints one part with a brush.
On The3DAI, yes: upload the model, describe the look, and AI paints it from several views; you can then brush a part and repaint only that part for 2 credits. Hitem3D's public pages describe making new models from images or text, not texturing a model you upload.
