Polygon Count Checker

Drop a 3D model to see how many triangles, vertices, meshes, materials and textures it has, and whether it fits Roblox, VRChat or iPhone AR. Free, no login, and your file never leaves your browser.

How to check a 3D model's polygon count

  1. 1

    Drop your model

Drop a GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, PLY, 3MF or DAE file, or try the sample rocket. Add the .bin and texture files of a .gltf, or a ZIP of its folder.

  2. 2

    Read the counts

See triangles, vertices, meshes, materials, draw calls, textures with their sizes, and the bounding box. Turn on Wireframe to see the mesh density.

  3. 3

    Check a budget

Pick Roblox, VRChat PC or Quest, Apple AR Quick Look, or type your own triangle budget. The per-mesh table shows which part to simplify first.

Polygon limits by platform

The checker uses these published limits. Engines count triangles, so a quad counts as 2.

Too many triangles? Shrink an STL with the STL file size reducer. Happy with the mesh? Paint it from a text prompt in the AI 3D Texturing Studio, or just look around it in the glTF viewer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drop the file on the viewer above. The tool reads it in your browser and shows the triangle count, vertex count, meshes, materials and textures in a second or two, with a list of every mesh from the heaviest down.
A polygon (face) can have 3, 4 or more corners; game engines and GPUs split every face into triangles. A quad is 2 triangles, so a model with 10,000 quads draws 20,000 triangles. Platform limits like Roblox and VRChat count triangles. For OBJ and PLY files the tool also shows the faces as stored in the file, with quads and n-gons for OBJ.
Vertices counts each point once, like Blender shows it. GPU vertices is what a game engine draws: a point is split into copies where it has different UVs or normals (UV seams, hard edges). STL files store every triangle on its own, so their GPU count is 3 times the triangles.
Roblox Creator Docs say each mesh can have at most 20,000 triangles. The limit is per mesh, not for the whole model, so split a heavy part into several meshes or reduce it. Pick Roblox above to see which of your meshes are over.
VRChat ranks PC avatars Excellent up to 32,000 triangles and Good, Medium or Poor up to 70,000. Quest and Android avatars are Excellent up to 7,500, Good up to 10,000, Medium up to 15,000 and Poor up to 20,000. Meshes, material slots and bones are ranked too; the tool estimates all of them.
GLB, glTF (with its .bin and textures, or as a ZIP), OBJ, FBX, STL, PLY, 3MF and Collada DAE, up to 200 MB. Draco and meshopt compressed GLB files are decoded, so you see what the GPU draws.
No. The file is opened and measured on your own device with JavaScript and WebGL. Nothing is sent to a server, and the tool works without an account.
For an STL, the free STL file size reducer on this site lowers the triangle count in your browser. For other formats, use Decimate in Blender, or rebuild the heaviest meshes from the per-mesh list. Then check the new file here again.
