How to upscale pixel art without blur
1
Add your pixel art
Drop a PNG, GIF, WebP or JPG sprite, tile or texture, or try a built-in sample. Already-enlarged images are detected and taken back to 1 pixel per art pixel.
2
Pick an algorithm and scale
Nearest neighbour for exact blocks, Scale2x/Scale3x for smoother staircases in the same colours, or Smooth (xBR-style) for soft diagonals. Choose 2x to 8x, then enlarge more if you need to. Turn on Tiling for seamless textures.
3
Compare and download
Check the original and the result side by side at the same size, or as a 3 x 3 tile preview, then download a PNG with transparency kept. Many files or a texture pack ZIP? Use Batch.
Pixel art scaling algorithms compared
None of these blur. They differ in how they treat diagonal edges and whether they add new colours.
Algorithm
What it does
Best for
New colours?
Nearest neighbour
Every pixel becomes a clean N x N block.
Exact enlargement for store pages, posts, engines
No
Scale2x / EPX
Fills the corners of staircases where two neighbours match, so diagonals look less jagged.
Sprites, icons and tiles at 2x, 4x or 8x
No
Scale3x
The same idea on a 3 x 3 grid, for 3x, 6x (with Scale2x) and 9-pixel detail.
Sprites and tiles at 3x or 6x
No
Smooth (xBR-style)
Finds edges from colour differences and cuts pixel corners along them, with anti-aliasing.
Rounder outlines and HD-looking sprites
Yes, unless "Keep original colours" is on
Upscaling a photo, a scan or a painted texture instead? The AI texture upscaler adds real detail where pixel rules cannot. Want the art on a model? Paint a GLB, OBJ or FBX in the AI 3D Texturing Studio, or make new block textures with the block texture generator.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is free and needs no login or credits. Your image is opened, upscaled and saved on your own device; it is never uploaded.
Most editors and browsers resize with bilinear or bicubic filtering, which blends neighbouring pixels and leaves blurry grey fringes around every edge. Pixel-art scalers only copy or cut pixels along edges, so the result stays sharp.
Nearest neighbour keeps your art exactly as drawn, just bigger. Scale2x (also called EPX) and Scale3x smooth jagged staircases but only use colours that are already in the image. Smooth (xBR-style) rounds diagonals and anti-aliases them for an HD look; tick "Keep original colours" to get its shapes without new colours. Try them on the side-by-side compare.
PNG, GIF (first frame), WebP, JPG and BMP, up to 2048 px per side. The result can be up to 8192 px per side and 16.7 megapixels (for example 4096 x 4096). Choose 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x or 8x, then enlarge again with nearest neighbour by 2x or 4x for up to 32x. PNG keeps the art exact; JPG noise makes Scale2x and xBR find fewer clean edges.
Yes. Transparent pixels stay transparent and the download is a PNG with alpha. Nearest and Scale2x/3x keep alpha exactly; Smooth softens the edge between the sprite and the background, unless "Keep original colours" is on.
Choose "Tiling texture (wrap)". Each edge then looks at the opposite side of the image, so the corners are smoothed the same way on both sides and the result still tiles. The 3 x 3 tile preview shows the seams before you download.
Yes. Open Batch and drop several images or a ZIP. Every PNG is upscaled with your settings, other files (like pack.mcmeta) are copied unchanged, and you get one ZIP back with the same folders. Block textures usually want Tiling on. Minecraft is named only to describe block textures and resource packs. The3DAI is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mojang Studios or Microsoft.
Scale2x and xBR need one image pixel per art pixel. The tool checks whether every pixel is part of an equal block (for example 4 x 4) and, if so, shrinks it back first. You can turn that off.
Yes, the whole sheet is scaled at once, so every frame gets the same treatment. With Scale2x or Smooth, frames that touch can affect each other by one pixel at the border; a 1 px transparent gap between frames avoids that.
No. It uses classic pixel-art rules, so it never invents detail and gives the same result every time. For photo-real or painted textures, use the AI texture upscaler instead.
Set the texture filter to point or nearest: Filter Mode "Point (no filter)" in Unity, "Nearest" in Godot, and "Closest" interpolation on the Image Texture node in Blender. Otherwise the engine blurs the texture again when it draws it.
