Phone Stand Generator

Pick your device, set the viewing angle and the thickness of your phone with its case, and choose the width, lip and base. Add a slot for the charging cable or a name on the front. The stand is built in your browser and downloads as an STL or 3MF that prints on its side with no supports.

How to make a 3D printed phone stand

  1. 1

    Pick the device

Phone, phone in a thick case, or tablet. Each preset sets a sensible slot, width, base and back support.

  2. 2

    Set the angle

Drag the viewing angle. 60 to 70 degrees from the desk suits video and calls; steeper is more upright.

  3. 3

    Measure the thickness

Measure your phone with its case on and type it in. The slot adds 1 mm so the phone drops in easily.

  4. 4

Add a cable slot or name

The cable slot lets you charge while it stands. A name on the front makes it a gift or a desk sign.

  5. 5

    Download and print

Download the STL or 3MF and print it lying on its side. No supports, no glue, one piece.

Phone stand settings

Every setting updates the 3D preview. These starting points suit a phone in a normal case on a 0.4 mm nozzle printer.

Viewing angleThe angle of the screen from the desk. 60 to 70 degrees is comfortable for watching or a video call at a desk; 75 to 80 degrees is closer to upright, good for a bedside stand.
Device thicknessYour phone or tablet with its case, in mm. Calipers are best; a ruler is fine. The slot is 1 mm wider than this.
Stand widthHow wide the stand is. 60 to 80 mm holds a phone steady; use 100 mm or more for a tablet.
Lip heightHow high the front lip rises above the ledge. 8 to 12 mm holds a phone without covering the screen; a tablet likes 12 to 15 mm.
Base depthFront to back. A deeper base resists tipping backwards when you tap the screen. The tool warns you when the device would sit too close to the back edge.
Wall thicknessThickness of every wall. 3 mm is stiff in PLA or PETG; use 4 mm or more for a heavy tablet.
Height above deskWhere the bottom of the device sits. Raise it to make room for a charging plug: a USB-C plug with its sleeve needs about 18 to 25 mm.
Back supportHow far up the back of the device the support reaches. About half the device height is plenty.
Cable slotA gap through the middle of the ledge and the lower support, and a notch in the rear leg, so the cable runs from the phone straight out the back.
NameUp to 20 characters embossed on the front. It shrinks to fit and is a separate part in the 3MF for a second colour.

How to print it

Lay it on its side and it prints with no supports. These settings work on any FDM printer with a 0.4 mm nozzle.

OrientationPrint it lying on its side (the default export). The whole stand is one side profile pulled across the width, so on its side every wall is vertical: no supports, no bridges, and the layers run along the lip and the ledge, where the load is.
MaterialPLA is fine for a desk stand. PETG is a little tougher and handles a warm car or a sunny window sill better. Avoid brittle silk PLA for a tablet stand.
Infill and walls15 to 25% infill with 3 walls (perimeters) is strong enough for a phone. For a tablet, use 4 walls or raise the wall thickness setting.
Bed adhesionOn its side the stand stands tall on the bed (its width). For a stand over 100 mm wide, add a brim so it cannot wobble near the top.
Layer height0.2 mm is a good default. A name on the front prints cleaner at 0.12 to 0.16 mm.
Two coloursWith an AMS or MMU, open the 3MF and give the name part its own filament. On one extruder, print the stand in one colour and paint the raised letters, or skip the name.

Phone stand generator FAQ

Measure your phone with its case on, type that thickness above, and pick the viewing angle. The generator builds a stand with a slot 1 mm wider than your phone, a front lip and a base. Download the STL or 3MF, print it on its side, and it is ready to use.
For watching video or a video call at a desk, 60 to 70 degrees from the desk works for most people. Steeper angles, 75 to 80 degrees, take less desk space and suit a bedside table. You can change the angle and download again until it feels right.
No. Print it lying on its side, which is how the STL downloads by default. The stand is one side profile extruded across its width, so in that orientation every wall is vertical and nothing hangs in the air. Only raised letters on the front stand out about 1 mm.
Yes. Keep the charging cable slot turned on. It opens the middle of the ledge and the lower support, and adds a notch in the rear leg, so the cable runs from the phone down and out the back. Raise the height above the desk if the plug does not fit under the phone.
Yes. Pick the Tablet preset: it makes the stand wider, the base deeper and the back support longer. Type your tablet thickness with its case. For a large or heavy tablet, use a wall thickness of 4 mm or more and a base of 130 mm or deeper.
PLA or PETG with 15 to 25% infill and 3 walls. PETG is the better choice for a stand in a car or by a sunny window. A 0.2 mm layer height is a good default.
Yes. It is free, with no signup, no watermark and no download limit. The stand is built on your device, so nothing is uploaded. Print as many as you like for your desk, kitchen or friends.
