Miniature Paint Scheme GeneratorPreview a paint scheme on your own mini with AI

A miniature paint scheme generator shows you colours on a model before you buy or mix paint. Drop your mini's STL, OBJ, GLB or FBX file, or pick a sample, then choose a scheme or type your own. AI paints it onto your exact model from every side, and the swatches give you a palette to paint from.

miniature paint scheme: dark gunmetal armour, muddy brown cloth, rusted edges, soot and grime in recesses, dull bone details, heavy dark wash, sparse edge highlights

Opening the studio is free. There, a Quick preview paints all 4 sides of the model for 2 credits (log in needed); nothing is charged until you press a paint button.

Tips for previewing a mini

No UVs? That is normal

A miniature STL has no UV map. The studio makes new UVs for it automatically. If your GLB, OBJ or FBX has its own UVs, the studio shows "Keep my UVs" and "Make new UVs": pick "Make new UVs" for a paint preview, so mirrored parts do not share paint.

Quick preview first

Press "Quick preview: 4 sides in 1 call" (2 credits) to see the scheme fast. Not right? Change the words and preview again before spending more.

More views for small details

Once you like the colours, use "Auto texture" with 6 or 8 views: the extra views reach the top, the underside and hidden sides that 4 views miss.

Fix one part

Pick "Select region", brush over a part (a cloak, a shield), type its colour and press "Paint the marked part". Grey spots: turn the model to them and press "Paint this view".

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a scheme

Choose one of the scheme cards or type your own armour, cloth, trim and metal colours.

  2. 2

AI paints it on your exact mini

The studio opens with your model and the scheme filled in. A Quick preview paints all 4 sides in one go.

  3. 3

Look from every side, then paint

Turn the model, compare schemes, and paint the real mini with the palette you liked.

Honest limits

  • Small details such as eyes, buckles and gems come out rough. The preview is for choosing colours, not for copying brushwork.
  • It is a preview, not a finished paint job: real paint, primer and light will look different.
  • The shape never changes: the AI only paints the surface of the model you dropped.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a tool that shows you a set of colours on a miniature before you paint it. Here you pick a scheme (or type your own), and AI paints it onto your own 3D model from every side, so you can compare looks and keep a palette of scheme colours to paint from.
Yes. Drop an STL, OBJ, GLB or FBX file (GLTF and PLY work too) up to 60 MB. The file is handed to the studio inside your browser; only the rendered views you choose to paint are sent to our AI. No file yet? Make one with /photo-to-3d-figurine or /text-to-stl.
Opening the studio from this page is free. In the studio, a Quick preview paints all 4 sides of your mini in one AI call for 2 credits; nothing is charged until you press a paint button, and you need to be logged in. Credits for a view that does not paint are refunded automatically.
Yes. STL files never carry UVs, so the studio makes new UVs for your mini automatically. If your file does have UVs, the studio offers "Keep my UVs" or "Make new UVs"; for a paint preview, "Make new UVs" is the safer pick.
No. The mesh, pose and detail stay exactly as you sculpted or downloaded them. The AI only paints the surface, and you can download the painted model as a GLB.
They come out rough, because a mini is small and the AI paints whole views at once. Use the preview to choose colours. For more detail, use 6 or 8 views, or brush one part with "Select region" and repaint only that.
No. The swatches are the scheme colours as hex codes, a guide for mixing or picking paint by eye. They are not linked to any paint brand. Copy a hex code with one click and compare it with the paints you own.
Yes. The free /3d-model-color-changer lets you set flat colours on each part of a model by hand, with no AI and no credits. This page is for an AI-painted preview with shading, wash and highlights.
