How to make a game icon with AI

  1. 1

    Describe the item

Type what the icon shows, like "iron sword" or "blue mana crystal", or upload a render of your own 3D model to turn it into an icon.

  2. 2

    Pick a style

Hand-painted RPG, pixel art, 3D render, flat or dark fantasy. Each style uses the same fixed words for every icon, so a set matches.

  3. 3

    Generate

One icon costs 2 credits. In set mode you see the total before you start, and an icon that fails is never charged.

  4. 4

    Frame and download

The background is cut out in your browser. Add a circle, rounded or rarity frame, choose the size and download a PNG or the whole set as a ZIP.

The five icon styles

Each style sends the same fixed style words with every item, so icons made on different days still look like one set.

Hand-painted RPGPainterly brush strokes, rich colours and a soft rim light: the classic look of fantasy role-playing inventories.
Pixel artA retro sprite look. Pick a 32 or 64 pixel grid: the icon is cut down to that grid with hard pixel edges, then scaled up without blur so every pixel stays sharp.
3D renderSmooth, glossy shading like a rendered game asset. Good for mobile and casual games.
Flat / minimalSolid colours, simple shapes and a thick outline. Easy to read at small sizes in menus and HUDs.
Dark fantasyWorn metal, old leather, deep shadows and one glowing accent, for grim and gothic games.

Frames and rarity borders

None (transparent)Just the item on a transparent background, to place on your own slot art in the game engine.
CircleA dark round badge with a thin rim, for skills, buffs and ability buttons.
Rounded squareA dark slot with soft corners, the most common inventory slot shape.
Rarity borderA coloured slot and border: grey common, blue rare, purple epic, gold legendary. Change the tier of each icon after it is made, at no cost.

Turn your icon into a 3D game item

Upload the icon to Image to 3D and the AI builds a 3D model of the item, ready to download as GLB for your game engine or STL for printing. It uses credits like the icons do.

Game icon generator FAQ

Type the item into the tool at the top of this page, for example "healing potion", pick a style and press Generate. The AI paints the item on a plain background, your browser cuts the background out, and you download a transparent PNG. Add a frame or change the size first if you like.
Switch to Make a set and enter up to six items, one per line, or pick a ready-made list. Every icon uses the same fixed style words and the same frame, so they look like one set. The button shows the total credits before you start, and you can download all of them as one ZIP.
Yes, when you pick no frame. The AI is asked for a plain white background, and the tool removes it from the edges inwards, so white highlights inside the item stay. The PNG keeps a soft edge so it sits cleanly on dark or light slot art.
Many inventory icons are made at 256 or 512 px and scaled down in the game, so you can choose 256, 512 or 1024 px here. For pixel art, the real size is the grid you pick, 32 or 64 pixels, scaled up with hard edges so it stays crisp. Check what your engine or UI kit expects.
Yes. Choose Upload a render and add a picture of your model, ideally on a plain background. The AI repaints it in the style you pick and keeps its shape, so the icon matches the model in your game. Render the model first with the STL to PNG tool if you only have the 3D file.
Each icon is one normal AI generation of 2 credits, so a set of four costs 8 credits. If an icon fails or times out, the credits go back to your balance and the tool says so. Changing the frame, rarity, size or pixel grid after an icon is made is free.
You can use icons you make here in your own projects. Describe items in your own words: the tool does not copy items from other games or brands, and it does not make pictures of real people.
Yes. Open Image to 3D, upload the icon and the AI builds a 3D model you can download as GLB or STL, for a pickup in your game or a printed prop.

Rarity colours follow a common convention in many games and are not taken from any one game. Icons are made by AI and may vary; check each one before you ship it.
