A ZIP is not a 3D format; it is a box that holds files. Drop it on this page and the tool unpacks it in your browser, lists the 3D models inside and turns each one into STL. STL files are passed through byte for byte; OBJ, 3MF and PLY files are converted to binary STL.
Yes. Merge all into one STL writes a single file with every readable model in it. Side by side stands each part on the bed and lines them up with a 5 mm gap, which suits a set of separate parts. Keep positions leaves each part where its file put it, which suits parts that were designed to fit together.
The ZIP holds no STL, OBJ, 3MF or PLY file. Some downloads contain only images, a PDF or a .rar or .7z inside the ZIP; unpack those on your computer first. Files in a .zip inside the .zip are found too, one level deep.
Each ZIP can be up to 500 MB, and everything unpacked from one drop is capped at 500 MB, because the files have to fit in your browser tab. The cap also protects you from zip bombs: archives that claim to be small but unpack to gigabytes. Password-protected ZIPs have to be unzipped with their password first.
