AI Skybox Generator

Describe a sky or a world, and AI paints a 360° equirectangular panorama. We blend the left and right edges so it wraps without a seam, show it in a 360 viewer, and let you download it as a PNG or a 6-face cubemap.

2 credits per AI skybox · 360 preview, seam fix and downloads are free

How to make a skybox with AI

  1. 1

    Describe the world

Type a sky, a landscape or a whole scene, or start from a style chip. Mention the time of day, weather and mood.

  2. 2

    Generate and look around

AI paints a 2048 x 1024 panorama (2 credits). Drag the 360 preview to look in every direction, including behind you where the edges meet.

  3. 3

    Download for your engine

Save the equirectangular PNG, or the 6 cubemap faces in one strip, and drop it into Unity, Unreal, Godot, Blender or three.js.

Equirectangular or cubemap?

An equirectangular skybox is one 2:1 image that wraps around a sphere: the left and right edges meet behind you, the top row is straight up and the bottom row is straight down. Unity's Panoramic skybox, Godot's PanoramaSkyMaterial, Blender world textures and three.js all load it directly. A cubemap is the same view cut into 6 square faces; some engines and older pipelines want those instead. This page gives you both from the same image.

Frequently Asked Questions

A skybox is the image that surrounds a 3D scene: the sky, the horizon and anything far away. Games, VR scenes and 3D viewers draw it behind everything else, so wherever the camera turns there is a world around it. It is stored either as one 360° panorama (equirectangular, twice as wide as it is tall) or as 6 square cubemap faces.
Each AI skybox costs 2 credits. If the AI fails or takes too long, the credits are refunded automatically. The 360 preview, the seam fix, opening your own panorama and both downloads are free.
AI image models rarely make the left and right edges of a panorama match, which shows as a vertical line behind the viewer. This page blends the two edges after the image is made: on our test skyboxes the colour step across the wrap dropped from 15-54 to under 1 (out of 255). Drag the preview round to check the back before you download.
Unity: import the PNG, set its shape to 2D and create a material with the Skybox/Panoramic shader (Latitude Longitude layout). Godot: use the PNG in a PanoramaSkyMaterial. Unreal: map the panorama onto a sky sphere, or import the cubemap faces as a cube texture. three.js: load the PNG and set its mapping to EquirectangularReflectionMapping for scene.background.
The cubemap download is one PNG strip with 6 square faces side by side in the order +X, -X, +Y, -Y, +Z, -Z (right, left, top, bottom, front, back), each 1/4 of the panorama width. Cut it into 6 images if your engine wants separate files.
No. The download is a normal 8-bit PNG, good as a background and for soft reflections. True HDR (.hdr / .exr) stores light much brighter than white and is what you need for realistic image-based lighting; for that, use a photographed HDRI.
